Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) is a special therapy for patients with cancer or other diseases which affect the bone marrow. The Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Program at Vejthani Hospital , provides both autologous (self) and allogenic (related and unrelated) bone marrow transplants for a variety of oncological and hematological illnesses ie lymphomas, leukemias, metabolic disorders, solid tumors and thalasemia. The bone marrow transplant program has a strong commitment to a comprehensive, full range of care. The bone marrow transplant program is staffed by highly qualified and experience in oncologists , paediatric oncologists and array of specialists in both adult and pediatric medicine, including cardiology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, nephrology, pulmonology, radiation oncology, and surgery. In addition to the specialized medical staff, the comprehensive care of our patients involves a variety of other professionals nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists, nutritionists, and others who participate in all aspects of patient care. |

The bone marrow transplant unit is a private isolation room equipped with a HEPA filtration system and state-of-the-art monitoring equipment. New structures are in place to ensure that the unit environment is highly protective against infection, a major complication for patients undergoing bone marrow transplants. The unit also features a area for parents that allows more privacy and comfortable place where parents can stay. |
